Letter from the President

I’m often asked, “What does it take to create a great company?”  And I ALWAYS answer, “To have a great company you have to have great customers…and to have great customers you have to have great people.”  And since 1868, almost as long as Wisconsin has been formally recognized as part of the United States of America, the people working at W.A. Roosevelt have approached their work with this mindset.  We have a simple customer vision that inspires this mindset:


We’re passionately committed to our customers’ success
by constantly thinking and acting on innovative ways
to provide incomparable service to every customer
at every contact, so our customers look like heroes
to those that determine their success.


These are not just words that sound nice; it’s truly what’s at the core of what we do.  As a happily recovering corporate guy, I’ve found that most organization charts are upside down.  The organization chart at W.A. Roosevelt has our over 2,500 customers at the top, and with me at the bottom.  And I share this with our people every chance I get, “No one that works here works for me…you and I both work for our customers.”  And there’s a simple reminder message on everyone’s W.A. Roosevelt paycheck, “Brought to you by our customers”.  We’re not in business to just “sell stuff”, we truly work at earning the business we’re fortunate enough to have, and hope at some point in their careers say that W.A. Roosevelt has been an important part of their business. 

With these great words and our mindset I’d love to share with you we’ve found the formula for perfection.  However, while it is our quest…perfection still eludes us.  Most rational people realize occasional mistakes happen even with the best companies.  Having said that, I’d challenge anyone to find another group of people that takes making ‘heroic recoveries’ as seriously as we do at W.A. Roosevelt.
